The T-Rex Replicator D’Luxe is a true analog tape echo built around a real moving tape cartridge, one record head, and two playback heads.

It gives you the warmth, compression, saturation, and organic movement of real tape delay, but in a compact, road-ready format designed for modern players.

This is not a digital model of tape echo.

Your signal is physically recorded onto tape and played back in real time.

Two Playback Heads. Three Distinct Delay Voices.

Replicator D’Luxe gives you two playback heads with different timing ranges.

Short Head

The Short head covers approximately:

108–520ms

Perfect for:

• Slapback
• Rockabilly
• Vintage-style echoes
• Short rhythmic repeats
• Thickening and ambience

Long Head

The Long head extends the delay range to approximately:

215–1000ms

That opens the door to:

• Longer rhythmic delays
• Spacious lead tones
• Ambient repeats
• Modern tempo-synced delay sounds

Combine Both

Engage both playback heads together and the delay becomes more complex, creating a layered, room-like multi-head texture that sits somewhere between conventional echo and ambience.

Real Tape Changes the Sound

Tape does more than repeat your signal.

It compresses.

It saturates.

It softens transients.

It introduces subtle movement.

As the signal passes repeatedly through the tape system, each echo develops a little more character.

That is why real tape echo feels different from a digital simulation: the recording medium itself becomes part of the sound.

Saturation Control

The Saturation control lets you determine how hard the signal drives the tape system.

Keep it lower for cleaner, more defined repeats.

Push it harder for more compression, harmonic coloration, and tape character.

This gives you direct control over one of the most important elements of real tape echo: how strongly the tape is being driven.

Tap Tempo

Real tape echo and tap tempo do not usually live in the same sentence.

Replicator D’Luxe changes that.

The dedicated Tap Tempo footswitch lets you set the timing of the Long playback head directly from your foot. The Short head follows at approximately half that delay time, keeping the relationship between the two heads intact.

That means you can have the sound of real tape without giving up the live-performance convenience of tempo synchronization.

Feedback

The Feedback control determines how much of the delayed signal is sent back through the tape system.

At lower settings, you get a few controlled repeats.

Turn it higher and the echoes continue longer, becoming progressively more saturated and complex.

Push it far enough and the Replicator can move toward self-oscillation and evolving tape textures.

Delay Level

The Delay Level control determines how much tape echo is mixed with your dry signal.

Use it subtly for depth and dimension, or bring the echo forward until it becomes a central part of the sound.

Kill Dry

Replicator D’Luxe includes Kill Dry operation, allowing you to remove the direct signal and output only the delayed tape signal.

That is especially useful for:

• Parallel effects loops
• Wet/dry rigs
• Studio auxiliary sends
• More complex routing systems

A Better Tape Transport

T-Rex refined the mechanical system of the D’Luxe around years of experience building real tape-delay products.

The D’Luxe uses a belt-drive motor suspension designed to reduce mechanical operating noise, along with a tape-lock mechanism intended to protect both the tape and pinch roller when the machine is not in use.

These are not cosmetic updates.

They make a real mechanical tape echo more practical to own and use.

Replaceable Tape Cartridge

Tape is part of the sound — and eventually, tape wears.

Replicator D’Luxe uses the replaceable T-Rex Replicator Tape Cartridge, allowing you to install fresh tape without having to cut, splice, or thread your own loop. T-Rex still offers the cartridge as a service part for the D’Luxe and other Replicator models.

That is an important part of the Replicator design philosophy:

Power Budget

12V DC / 300mA

Replicator D’Luxe includes the correct T-Rex power supply and is ready to run right out of the box.

Its 300mA requirement also gives us another useful example of the Power Budget principle:

Match the voltage.
Match AC or DC.
Match the polarity.
Make sure enough current is available.

A supply rated for more than 300mA at the correct 12V DC voltage is fine; the Replicator draws only the current it requires.
