The Original Mudhoney, Recreated in Denmark

Raunchy. Smooth. Punchy. unmistakably Mudhoney.

The T-Rex Mudhoney DK brings back one of the company’s defining distortion circuits.

Originally created as an all-around distortion pedal, Mudhoney earned its reputation by covering an unusually broad range—from gritty edge and crunchy overdrive to thick, aggressive distortion—while retaining a distinctive punchy midrange and musical feel.

Mudhoney DK recreates that original circuit using carefully selected components chosen to match or exceed the quality and sound of the originals.

Raunchy, But Smooth

Mudhoney has always lived in a useful space between overdrive and full distortion.

Turn the Gain down and it adds attitude, grit, and edge.

Push it harder and the pedal develops a denser, more aggressive distortion voice without losing definition.

The result is a gain sound that can work across blues, rock, alternative, punk, and heavier styles without feeling locked into one specific application.

Four Controls. A Lot of Range.

Mudhoney DK keeps the original control layout simple:

GAIN
Sets the amount of drive and saturation.

LEVEL
Controls the pedal’s output level.

TONE
Shapes the brightness and upper-frequency character.

BOOST
Changes the gain structure for a more aggressive distortion response.

That straightforward layout is part of the Mudhoney appeal: there is plenty of tonal range without unnecessary complexity.

The Boost Switch

The Boost control gives Mudhoney another gear.

Leave it off for more moderate gain, crunch, and dynamic response.

Engage Boost when you want greater saturation, compression, and aggression.

Combined with the Gain control, it allows the pedal to cover significantly more territory than a conventional one-voice distortion.

A T-Rex Original

Mudhoney was one of the pedals that helped establish the early T-Rex sound.

Its slightly aggressive, punchy midrange and ability to work across many styles made it a pedal players returned to repeatedly. T-Rex even recounts the story of one guitarist who bought and sold six Mudhoneys before finally buying a seventh—and keeping it.

Mudhoney DK brings that original circuit back for a new generation.

Power Budget

Mudhoney DK is a traditional low-current analog effect, making it an easy fit for a conventional pedalboard power system.

Before connecting power, always confirm the voltage, polarity, and current requirement printed on your specific pedal or supplied documentation.

Once we have the exact current-draw specification from your current T-Rex sheet/manual, I’d put the precise figure here rather than guess.

The Yellow One

Some pedals become known by their controls.

Some by their circuit.

And some simply become recognizable.

Mudhoney became “the yellow one”—a distinctive T-Rex distortion with a sound that was aggressive enough to cut, smooth enough to play, and versatile enough to stay on the board. T-Rex still uses that phrase for the current DK version.

The original Mudhoney sound is back.
